ALL STUDENTS MUST REGISTER FOR GOOGLE CLASSROOM, TURNITIN.COM AND MYSFP. Be sure to use a valid SFP email address and to register for the correct course and class on all forums.

Any student who is absent must make up any and all missed work. It is the student's responsibility to find out what work was missed and to request a make-up.  All assignments/quizzes/exams will be posted on GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

Students must be prepared for class everyday. Being prepared means having the correct books, pens and pencils, a fully charged iPad and being on time, whether learning in person or remotely.

The Honor Code is strictly observed in this class and applies to everything we do. Students are expected to adhere to the school's honor code policy.

Please be sure to check Google Classroom DAILY for news on upcoming assignments, quizzes and exams!

Hello Seniors!

Welcome to Gothic Lit!  This is a fantastic course that will trace the origins and history of Gothic literature in Europe and follow the transition of the Gothic style into American Literature.  We’re going to read some really great texts and hopefully have some insightful discussions as we delve into the mystifying and often bizarre world of the Gothic genre!

This will be a very different type of school year for all of us.  All I can ask of you is to do your best, be open minded, and be flexible. We are in this together. I'm excited to be teaching this course and I look forward to getting to know you better as the semester progresses!  Do not hesitate to speak with me should you have any questions or concerns. My email is [email protected] for anyone who might find it easier/necessary to communicate this way instead of in person.  While this will be a rigorous course and I will expect you to put in a good deal of effort,  I am confident that you will push yourselves to be the best English scholars you can be.  Always remember these words from Ralph Waldo Emerson: "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm!" This year will be what we make of it. Let us do our best to make it great one!

I look forward to meeting you in person/online on Monday, 9/14.

Ms. Rizzi-Lorenz
