Italy Semester Abroad Grade:

Journal:  20%

Participation: 20%

Paper: 60%

Friday, 7/12:  Italy Paper Due.  5-7 pages text, typed, and emailed to me by midnight.  3-5 pictures at the end mandatory.  ;)

The central idea of your paper is basically "A Week in Italy."  Share your greatest spiritual and historical discoveries, as well as reflections on the culture and life of Italians.  To help organize your paper please do the following:

Introduction  This can be 1-3 paragraphs depending how you want to open your paper.

Part I (Assisi)   This includes the little town of Greggio, Santa Chiara, San Damiano Church, San Francesco Basilica, the Carceri on Mt. Subasio, Rocco Maggiore Castle, St. Mary of the Angels with the Little Portion church inside, and PERUGIA. You should write about 3 or more of these, with an emphasis on 1.

Part II (Rome)  This includes St. John Lateran Church (and the steps of Pilate where Jesus was sentenced at the top), the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Villa Burghese Park, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Castel Sant'Angelo, the Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica.   You should write about 3 or more of these, with an emphasis on 1.

Conclusion:  This is where you can put your "6 senses" reflection.  I think that makes for a solid closing.  Also, discuss briefly why a Prep student should consider going on this journey/pilgrimage!  =)

FINALLY, IF YOU DON'T REMEMBER DETAILS ABOUT ANY OF THE ABOVE, GOOGLE TO FIND A REPUTABLE SOURCE/SITE WITH A GOOD EXPLANATION.   You may use "I" of course.

And most importantly, enjoy writing it!

Hello my student travelers!

I am so proud that you have made this life changing decision.  Know that we will be travelers and NOT tourists.  There is a big difference.

BTW...great news!  In Rome we will be able to stay at WorldStrides' usual hotel just a few blocks from Vatican City.  What a view!

Just wanted to let you know we will have our first official meeting this Friday, Feb. 8th, after school in E207.  We will be done by 3:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
