*At the start of the school year, we will only be using our iPad to take notes.  Using our iPad will limit the amount of materials students will have to bring with them to and from school as they may not have access to their lockers.  That being said, it is imperative that iPads are fully charged each day.

Materials:  A 3 Subject spiral notebook with pockets is required (Five Star is fine).  College-ruled is preferred.  All students must use a physical notebook (not one found on the iPad) for certain types of notes. You are expected to bring your notebook, a pen, a #2 pencil, and any book or handout we are currently working from with you to class each day.  Failure to bring required materials to class will result in an automatic 5 point deduction from your participation grade.

Grading:  Students’ quarterly grades will be based on quizzes, tests, essays, assignments, homework, projects and participation. Quizzes will be given periodically and may or may not be announced (pop quiz!). Class Participation will count as 100 points per quarter. Class participation consists of active listening, getting involved in class discussion, raising questions, interacting with other students etc. Repeated lateness to class, cutting, using your cell phone or iPad when you are not told to, lack of participation, being unprepared for class, and inappropriate behavior will lower your participation grade.  Cutting class will result in an automatic 30 point deduction from your participation grade. If you sit silently and never participate, you cannot get a high participation grade. If you are absent more than 5 times each quarter you cannot get a high participation grade.

Absence: If a student is absent, it is his or her responsibility to obtain and make up any work missed during his or her absence.  You must return to school with ALL POSTED assignments. Assignments are to be handed in at the beginning of the period. Late work will only be accepted under extraneous circumstances, and generally a point deduction. NEVER leave work in my mailbox or on a desk. All work must be handed to me directly. Any work that is handed in late will be penalized.

Class Conduct: Above all else, students are expected to behave appropriately. Being disrespectful to me or to other students will not be tolerated. Always remember The Honor Code, which is strictly enforced. Do not copy or plagiarize another person's work. Lastly, there is no unauthorized cell phone or iPad use during class.

By the end of our first day of classes, all students will have read through the Course Requirements and are expected to follow all rules as outlined above.  There will be no signing and printing Course Requirements at this time.  It is expected that you will go over these Course Requirements at home with your Parent or Guardian.
