ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY:  2021-2022- MRS. RICH


COURSE DESCRIPTION:

     This course is designed to present to you an in-depth picture of the human body.  It is a course geared toward those individuals interested in a health related career, as well as, those interested in the workings of the human body.

 

REQUIRED MATERIALS

IPAD or Notebook (student preference)

The IPAD can not be used for all quizzes and exams.  You must print out your notes if you use the IPAD. 


IPAD USAGE:  Notes can be taken on the IPAD (when in school) and in a notebook (when home-student preference).  Please review the technology usage policy on the school website. Each student should have his/her IPAD in class/lab on a daily basis.  The IPAD will be used for note-taking. classwork, homework, lab work, and other assignments.  No use of social media or inappropriate content is acceptable.   Students must remain on task and have no irrelevant applications open such as ESPN, Netflix, YouTube, etc.  The teacher reserves the right to inspect IPAD usage at any time during the official class time.

QUARTER GRADE BREAKDOWN

Classwork- 10%                                

Lab Work - 30%

Final Grade: Both quarters are worth 45% of the final grade and the final exam is worth 10% of the final grade. 


CLASS RULES:

1- The rules that are published in the school calendar/agenda book must be followed.  These rules refer to dress code, lateness, honor code, cell phone (pager), and absenteeism.  Excessive problems in any of these areas will result in detention or further disciplinary action.

2- All students will receive  a mid-quarter progress report.  It must be signed and returned by a specified date.  Grades are updated 24-48 hours after the assignments are submitted.  Please check Power School for the updated grades.

3- If you miss a quiz, you MUST schedule and take a make-up before the next scheduled quiz (as soon as you return to school).  If not, a zero (0) will be averaged into your quarter grade. 

4- If you miss the quarter exam, you must contact me (parent should call/email on the day of the exam) during the school day to schedule a make-up.  If not, you will not take a make-up exam and a zero (0) will be calculated as your exam grade.  

5- If you are going on a junior/senior retreat, college visit, or any other function which will result in you missing class, PLEASE remember that you are responsible for making up missed work.  Please notify me ahead of time if you are going to miss class.  Remember that if you are meeting at school to go on retreat or a trip, you MUST submit work (before school) that is due before you leave.   

6. Absenteeism:

      All students are required to complete all required work even if they are absent.  If a student is absent from class 6 or more times for any given quarter, this will be considered excessive absence. This can possibly result in a grade deduction from the quarterly grade. Please be advised classes missed due to lateness or early dismissal will be included in this group. Field trips and retreats are considered EXCUSED absences.


6. Formal lab reports must be submitted electronically to Turnitin.com (as a pdf file).

5- Late work WILL NOT be accepted.  You are given ample notice about assignments.

6-There is no food, drink, or candy allowed in class.
