This application is only for students interested in our Advanced Art Honors Full year class. If you are not interested in Advanced Art, please do not submit this application.

Please fill out the following application to be considered for the Art Honors class in September 2021. You will hear back from the SFP art department one week after submitting application. The Saint Francis Prep Art faculty will review your portfolio work and application. 

Acceptance to Advanced Art Honors is pending acceptance to Saint Francis Prep. 

This course fulfills the 1/2 credit requirement toward the state requirement of 1 Fine Arts credit. This course is designed to teach you the history and foundations of Visual Arts. You will experience a variety of materials and mediums that will take you from representational to more abstract expressions. We will learn about the lives of various artists and discover the sources of their inspiration. All projects are based on the Elements of Art: Line, Shape, Value, Color, Form, Space, Texture.

Advanced Art Honors is a FULL year of art. Most incoming Freshmen are placed into 1/2 art and 1/2 music basic art. The Advanced Art Honors class is in place of 1/2 art/music.

EIGHTH GRADE VIRTUAL DANCE AUDITIONS AND PERFORMING ARTS AUDITIONS

Performing Arts and/or Movement for Performers (Dance) Eighth Grade Application:

This application is only for students interested in PERFORMING ARTS AND/OR DANCE (MOVEMENT FOR PERFORMERS). If you are not interested, please do not submit this application.

Please fill out the following application to be considered for the PERFORMING ARTS AND/OR DANCE class in September 2021. You will hear back from the SFP art department one week after submitting the application. The Saint Francis Prep Art faculty will review your audition clip and application. 

Acceptance to Performing Arts and/or Movement for the Performer (Dance) is pending acceptance to Saint Francis Prep. 

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

Performing Arts 1

Full Year Course

During the school day - 3 days per cycle

Class is place of taking 1/2 year art 1/2 year music 

Performing Arts I is an art elective for the student interested in learning an introduction to basic stage acting.  The students gain knowledge in acting technique, improvisation, theater history and the acting business. Topics covered include: character and scene analysis, stage movement, Commedia dell Arte, scene study and an introduction to Method acting.  Students learn playwriting and perform their work during class time. This class  helps build confidence and self esteem while having fun acting together as an ensemble. The Alvernian Drama Society meets after school. It is not mandatory to participate in the Alvernian Drama Society for the class. All students are welcome to audition for the school plays as actors, dancers and singers. Students are encouraged to attend the performances. 

Movement for The Performers (Dance) 

Half Year Class (Student will be placed in either fall or spring semester) 

Monday-Thursday

Class meets before school 7:45AM - 8:25AM

This class is IN ADDITION to 1/2 year 1/2 music or Performing Arts

Wake up and Dance!

This course is an art elective for the Acting and Dance student interested in learning various dance styles and techniques. The class helps build technique and confidence for stage performance. Dance Improvisation, Modern Technique, and the Art of Choreography will be explored through classwork. Students learn various combinations and dance pieces in the style of jazz, modern, contemporary, music video dance and Musical theatre. They explore working together to create their own choreography using the principals and elements learned in class. The class learns Preventive Dance Injury and Dance History. Students are encouraged to audition for the Alvernian Drama Society and the SFP Dance Team.
