Prep at Christmastime

By Tami Terzian '11

Out of all the most enjoyable places to be around Christmastime, St. Francis Prep is high on the list. Christmas spirit permeated the auditorium on the morning of December 22, as members of the Prep community gathered in the auditorium to celebrate the annual Christmas Liturgy. An exceedingly large number of alumni were in attendance - a number that would only grow as the day went on. Christmas music began the mass; however, it was not the first place it was heard this day as members of Prep’s Liturgical Ensemble treated everyone to Christmas carols in the West Middle lobby beforehand. Different groups at Prep shared their talents to increase the joy, including Liturgical Ensemble, the Liturgical Dance Team, and Liturgical Musicians, as Father Bill reminded us all that Christmas is something to celebrate every single day of the year.

As the day went on, students and teachers found various ways to spread holiday cheer. Cors held mini parties as their way of celebrating, just as different clubs and student groups had done throughout the week. The library even played “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on a Smart Board for students who had frees. Throughout the hallways, smiles, hugs, and “Merry Christmas” wishes were exchanged, displaying the close connections we share with each other, and reminding us of the pleasure we have to freely share our enthusiasm for the Holy Day. What a wonderful way to officially start the Christmas vacation!
